A day at school
From the door to the pickup line
The order of the day stays the same, so children know what comes next.

Step 1: 8:30 a.m.: Arrival
A teacher greets each child at the door, and the day's checklist is on the desk.

Step 2: 8:45 a.m.: Reading and writing
At tables, with an adult beside each group.

Step 3: 10:30 a.m.: Snack and movement
A snack, then time in the yard or the gym.

Step 4: 11:15 a.m.: Math
Taught with objects, then drawings, then numbers.

Step 5: 12:15 p.m.: Lunch and quiet time
Lunch at long tables, then time in the quiet room or the library nook.

Step 6: 1:15 p.m.: Science, art and music
Afternoons turn to things to touch, make and sing. School ends at 3:00 p.m.
Movement
Every day has time to move
Children need to run before they can sit and read. The morning snack is followed by outdoor time, and the gym is open on rainy days. A teacher stays with the children the whole time.
